In the past, haulage companies only provided the wheels and were hired by shippers and forwarders to carry out the transport. But now we are seeing that these haulage companies – because of their knowledge of loading and unloading, clients and contractors – are starting to carry out this part of the supply chain themselves or are even taking on forwarding work.
The transport of special cargoes and industrial removals often require more complex constructions (almost always made of wood), which are designed and delivered by the Maple Group. In addition to the strength of being the carrier/mover, all other work such as packing, securing of cargo, covering etc. is purchased externally – also the terminal preparation work – via the Maple Group Special Cargo Station in Pernis.
